UP is a Swedish hip-hop magazine written in English. UP is mainly concerned with graffiti both in Sweden and abroad. UP is distributed internationally in five to six thousand copies. UP was started in 1992 in order to counterbalance the ignorant publicity that dominated mass media about hip-hop in general and graffiti in particular. We depict hip-hop and graffiti from within, and document a contested cultural expression for the future.
In addition to the magazine, UP has organized and assisted in the organization of hip-hop jams, festivals and demonstrations. In co-operation with Hasbin, UP also distributes other magazines, books and films on hip-hop, graffiti and design.
